The highly anticipated $250 million Forestville development kicked off on November 16 with the release of the first 27 terrace homes.

The highly anticipated $250 million Forestville development kicked off on November 16 with the release of the first 27 terrace homes.

Alongside the launch, developers are unveiling a unique ‘Demonstration Space’ that offers a preview of what the community can expect from this exciting new city fringe neighbourhood.

The first phase of homes includes both two and three-storey terraces overlooking landscaped community spaces. These residences will feature luxury interiors, three bedrooms, rooftop terrace gardens, and private courtyards.

Sustainability is a key focus, with electric vehicle charging, battery storage, and two off-street parking spaces. Construction on these homes is set to begin next year.

The Demonstration Space, an immersive experience for new residents, is more than a traditional sales centre. It incorporates a mini-supermarket operated by Adelaide’s Finest, POMPOM cafe and restaurant run by Fam Group, co-working spaces from Mache, an events area, and the Youth Inc school. The space gives visitors a taste of the vibrant, multi-use community the Forestville project aims to create.

Located on the former Le Cornu site on Anzac Highway, the development will be divided into six distinct precincts: residential, retail, hospitality, education, commercial, and tourism. Key features will include:

  • The Agora Market Square with cafes, eateries, and specialty stores.
  • A diverse range of housing, including 250 high-quality apartments and 71 terrace homes.
  • Short-stay accommodation for tourists, corporate, and wellness visitors.
  • The Urban Green School, an innovative learning environment focused on sustainable food and business skills for students aged 17-24.
  • A rooftop Urban Farm, practising regenerative agriculture and managed by students.
  • Green space, with 30% of the site dedicated to parks, reserves, and public areas – half of which will be accessible 24/7, and the other half open via rooftops.

The Forestville project is being developed by a consortium of the South Australian Commercial Retail Group (owners of Frewville and Pasadena Foodland), national developer Peet Limited, and local developer Buildtec. The development is expected to create 900 jobs during construction and 700 ongoing roles in retail, education, hospitality, and other sectors.

Commercial Retail Group Director Spero Chapley said, “Forestville will offer an unmatched lifestyle with a bustling market square, cafes, Urban Green School, and a diverse range of residential options. We are proud to not only develop but also to become part of this thriving new community.”

Peet’s South Australia State Manager, Mark Devine said, “These terrace homes have been carefully designed to suit both the location and the lifestyle, offering residents a perfect mix of seclusion and proximity to shops, eateries, and public amenities. Being just 2km from the CBD, the convenience is unbeatable.”

Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Nick Champion said, “Transforming the former Le Cornu site into a vibrant, master-planned community is a major milestone for Adelaide. With its strategic location near the CBD, Park Lands, and excellent public transport, Forestville is set to become a highly sought-after neighbourhood.”
