A brand-new party is joining the festival circuit this winter, as an independent local crew is bringing some of the country’s most exciting music to Adelaide.
Organised by the team behind Summertown Studio and The Porch Sessions, Porch and Recreation is all about chilled vibes. They’re bringing a smashing lineup of local and international artists to the city, and have food, drink, and entertainment sorted for a weekend of fun.
Taking place on May 31st and June 1st at the Burnside Ballroom, this two-day event will host local Aussie talents like ARIA-nominated Emma Donovan and rising star Grace Cummings, who are set to perform both days.
Headlining the event are an indie electronic group straight from the UK, Mount Kimbie, and Australia’s jazz and groove group, Surprise Chef. Between all these headliners are heaps more artists, and there’s still more to come.

The festival is brought to you by Porch Records, who have partnered with Vivid Sydney, Rising Melbourne and Dark MOFO, alongside Hotel Alba and City of Burnside.
At the heart of Porch Records is Sharni Honor, who has been working tirelessly for the last thirteen years to bring the music scene to South Australia.
“This is a big opportunity for Adelaide to show up, it’s my biggest project yet and I’m excited to bring it to Adelaide,” she says.

While music takes centre stage, there will also be a variety of food offerings available for event goers, organisers working closely with local artisans to offer high-quality food and beverage options.
Some to note are Food by Greg Lay of Wild Woodfired and Daniel Gills of Braising Boy, together with Hither and Yon wine, Tops Beer and Brighter Later Gin for beverages.
The team plans to host a pop-up record shop event within the festival as well, so expect stacked crates of hand-curated vinyl selections spanning jazz, funk, soul, and international groove music.
Early bird tickets have already sold out, but regular tickets are still up for grabs, ranging between $90 to $120, on the Porch Records website.
Porch Records started in 2019, bringing music and curating shows around the state ever since. Alongside Porch Records, Sharni has also created Summertown Studio, a cafe and creative independent space that’s open seven days a week.
