Sunny’s Pizza has occupied a well-established place in our hearts for some time, and we’re not the only ones.
Each weekend Sunny’s is hitting capacity, with people having to wait in line in order to get a spot in the Solomon Street venue.
Sunny’s Ash Wilson says the idea of creating a nearby bar has therefore been kicking around for a year.
So when Sunny’s Solomon Street neighbour Fairweather closed, it seemed only right for the Sunny crew to take advantage of the opportunity. This is how 1000 Island was born.
A little-known fact is that Sunny’s itself was originally meant to be a “bar with good food,” but naturally evolved into the sparkling restaurant it is today. It is therefore obvious that a bar has been a long time coming.
While Ash says 1000 Island will be the perfect place for people to head while they wait or finish up at Sunny’s, he states that the bar itself will not be anything like the restaurant.
1000 Island will be completely different from Sunny’s aesthetically. A tropical, exotic-themed vibe will be reflected in both the drinks and the fit-out itself.
1000 Island is going to be a purpose built bar, with no kitchen (you’ll have to get your pizza fix at Sunny’s before or after).
