The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters will host a new family event, ‘Melodies in the Park’ at Joslin Reserve, Joslin on Saturday 18 March 2017.

Building on the popularity and success of existing local community events such as the St Peters Fair and Twilight Carols & Christmas Market, ‘Melodies in the Park’ will focus on music and family entertainment for the enjoyment of the local community, whilst showcasing the delightful surrounds of Joslin Reserve at sunset.

Hosted by Channel 9’s Jessica Braithwaite, the fantastic musical line up will include ARIA award winning quartet, The Idea of North, and local bands Soul Macumbia and The Winter Gypsy.

Family entertainment, including Noises for Kids, The Amazing Ace magician, roving entertainers and a range of delicious food stalls will complement the live music melodies and the relaxed outdoor ambience of the event.

“Community events contribute greatly to building community pride, a ‘sense of place’ and promoting active participation,” said Mayor Robert Bria.

“Family-friendly events in local parks are embraced by the community and it is important that the Council hosts these events in various locations throughout the City, to ensure inclusion and participation across the community.

“Joslin Reserve offers an ideal suburban venue to host this family-orientated concert style event, featuring family entertainment and food stalls,” he said.

‘Melodies in the Park’ will be the first in a series of community concert events that will be hosted by the Council, with the next event to be held at Koster Reserve, Trinity Gardens in early 2018.

Melodies in the Park will be held on Saturday 18 March 2017, 4.00pm – 9.00pm at Joslin Reserve, Joslin.
