Fringe: Sunshine & Lollipops

15 year old Taya Rose brings her quirky spirit & electric ukulele to memories of George Formby, Frankie Valli, Marilyn Monroe & other stars from the 1930s – 60s.

frootloopyThis year’s Adelaide Fringe slogan is “experience something new” and what better mix than someone young, local and timeless?

15 year old Taya Rose stars as Frootloopy in her debut show, Sunshine & Lollipops, bringing her quirky spirit and electric ukulele to the songs and memories of George Formby, Frankie Valli, Marilyn Monroe and a range of other vintage stars from the 1930s to the 60s – with a smattering of comedy and lollipops.

Taya Rose will leave audiences mesmerised with her diversity, maturity and infectious love of musical mayhem. No matter where her travels take her, Taya Rose makes her mark entertaining with pure joy and frivolity. This upcoming star from Strathalbyn started performing publicly with Tin Can Alley in April 2014.

Her mentor, beloved TV and stage entertainer Jacqy Phillips, had this to say about her:

“The first thing Taya ever asked me was could I teach her to play the ukulele so she could play There’s No Business Like Show Business and Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend. That in itself was a cockle warmer from heaven but four months later she had a repertoire and two gorgeous ukuleles which, oh my could she play!

“This girl has hit the tarmac running, this girl is a glowing comet – a modern kid with delightful, old-fashioned show biz pizzazz. And I’ve had a lot of years in the business. She is one of ‘them’ folks. Don’t miss her!”

As a young performing artist with a passion for vintage entertainers, Frootloopy has had such an overwhelming response to her performances around the Adelaide Hills that there was no other option but to release her amazing talents to the world. Taya Rose is an absolute star. Her infectious presence will delight all ages and her performance is a must see!
