Support Cancer Council SA by riding for a reason this March

With 1 in 2 Australians diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85, Ride for a Reason is supporting Cancer Council SA this March.

With 1 in 2 Australians diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85, it’s a cause close to many of our hearts.

So we all have our reason to ride.

This March, every kilometre you ride can support the work of Cancer Council SA when you register to Ride for a reason. Every distance makes a difference.

Ride for a Reason was established in 2009, and is South Australia’s leading cycling program, giving participants the chance to challenge themselves while also raising vital funds for Cancer Council SA.

All you have to do is register your target distance, raise funds from your cheer squad, and – in the words of Freddie – get on your bikes and ride. Whether it’s on the road, on a track, in a spin class or at home, every journey supports the vital work of Cancer Council.

All the money raised through Ride for a reason goes towards supporting Cancer Council SA’s life-saving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs.

Since the event started, Ride for a reason participants have raised more than $4.4 million for Cancer Council SA. This year is set to be no exception, with Cancer Council SA hoping to raise $120,000 to support all South Australians impacted by cancer.

Can’t ride? There’s options to donate too, so you can still get involved and help support Cancer Council SA’s life-saving research, prevention, advocacy and support programs that change lives.

The funds raised through Ride for a reason go a long way: $18 can provide 20 information packs to Australians impacted by cancer; $25 can protect 15 children from potentially harmful sun exposure; and $43 can pay for a cancer nurse to provide an hour of expertise and support to those in need.

And a little bit more gets even better results: $155 can provide transport and accommodation to people who need to travel for vital cancer treatment; $510 can help provide annual training to Support Group Volunteers; and $1000 can pay for an analysis of two gene samples for a research project.

Cancer Council SA is South Australia’s leading cancer charity working across every aspect of every cancer. They support families affected by cancer when they need it most, speak out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empower people to reduce their cancer risk, and find new ways to better detect and treat cancer.

So save lives and support those impacted by cancer. It can be easy as… riding a bike.
