You may have most recently heard the name “Tenafeate Creek Wines” due to the its unfortunate exposure site status, but the winery has been known in many households across South Australia for years.
The winery announced in a Facebook post that they would be reopening this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday for pizzas, platters and their full range of wines following their temporary closure.
In line with new restrictions you must be seated when eating and drinking, and there will be no wine tasting available, however many wines will be available by the glass.
The winery expressed that a face mask is required when indoors, except when seated while eating and drinking as well as a reminder to always utilise the QR check in code upon arrival.
The One Tree Hill winery first opened in the early ’00s, releasing its first bottles of wine––a shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, and a sangiovese––in 2002. Since then, the family-owned winery, which was passed from founder Larry Costa to current owner Michael Costa, has grown to produce more than 20 wine varieties from their beautiful cellar door.
The Tenafeate Creek Wines cellar door and dining area boasts ample indoor and outdoor seating. Complete with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the vineyard, and a sleek interior with a wood-paneled curvilinear bar, the cellar door is the perfect place to wind down with a nice meal, a glass of wine, and stunning views.
The dining area serves up a range of pizzas, platters, and beverages from the gorgeous, window-lit space. Pizzas include ham and pineapple, salami, vegetarian and more, and the platters include a cheese board, a charcuterie platter, bruschetta, and dukka dip with ciabatta bread.
In addition to their extensive wine offering, they also offer Tenafeate Creek pilsner lager, tea and coffee, and soft drinks.
The winery describes its offerings as having “distinctive regional character,” crediting South Australia’s climate for their flavour.
“Our wines best represent an elegant yet powerful fruit-driven style which rank with the best in Australia, thanks to the unique Mediterranean macro-climate of cool, long temperate summers,” they say.
Owner Michael Costa recently took to Facebook to thank the community for its support. While the winery was temporarily closed, they still sold their products online.
“We would like to express our thanks again to everyone that have reached out to us. We are all doing well,” he says.
“It is great to see how Australians get on board to support small businesses during these tough times.”
