Support the fight against ovarian cancer at Silver Style Gala this October

The Adelaide Convention Centre hosts the annual Adelaide Silver Style Gala ball, supporting the fight against Ovarian Cancer.

The annual Adelaide Silver Style Gala Ball returns this October, with the Panorama Ballroom of the Adelaide Convention Centre playing host to an evening of class, philanthropy and commitment to the fight against ovarian cancer.

With the picturesque Riverbank views as a backdrop, the ball will take place on Saturday the 14th of October from 6:30 pm, and be an evening that’s not just about the ritz and glamour but carries the weight and emotion of its founder, the late Letitia Linke.

Letitia was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 34, and against all odds, this resilient mother, wife, and warrior took on the fight while advocating for early detection and research funding. Her legacy endures through the Letitia Linke Research Foundation and the gala that raises both awareness and vital funds for the silent but deadly disease.

Adelaide’s beloved media personality Rebecca Morse, will be the evening’s Master of Ceremonies, and she passionately resonates with the event’s mission, admitting to being deeply moved by the stark survival statistics. ‘I’ve been participating in fundraisers for ovarian cancer for several years now, and I was shocked and saddened to learn of the low survival rates.’, says Rebecca. ‘There is currently no early detection test, so it’s crucial we do what we can to fund research in this area.’

The event will kick off with a glass of sparkling French Champagne, with guests being treated to a three-course dinner where nature is the hero, from the Honest Goodness menu created in-house for the Adelaide Convention Centre. The food will be paired with beautiful local South Australian wines, including The Adelaide Hills Wicks Sauvignon Blanc and Southern Vales Encounter Shiraz.

The gala will also feature a live band, the Cast CAMEOS, with Aaron Deanshaw at the helm, who will be bringing out the party classics so everyone can let loose on the dancefloor, as well as a bit of friendly competition with Peter Curtis, the spirited auctioneer, who will have some amazing items on offer for those who wish to bid and contribute to a worthy cause.

The first Adelaide Silver Style event took place in 2016, coordinated by Letitia and her committee, setting the bar high, and raising over $75,000 for research, followed by another very successful Adelaide Silver Style Lunch in 2017. Sadly, Letitia lost her fight in August 2018, leaving behind a legacy that her family and friends continue in her name and in her honour.

Letitia’s deepest wish was that an early detection test would be found so that no other family would have to go through what she and her family went through. From this, the Letitia Linke Research Foundation was born and continues to run the annual Adelaide Silver Style.

So, don your best dress or suit and be a part of a night of luxury and fun connection that’s also contributing to a future where ovarian cancer is diagnosed early, treated effectively, and where no family experiences what Letitia’s family did.
