Saturday 23rd March – South Adelaide Football Club – Noarlunga Downs

Beachfest, Australia’s newest music festival, is coming to rock the South!

Jimmy Barnes will headline the inaugural Beachfest concert, with special guests Jon Stevens, Ross Wilson, The Black Sorrows and Swanee. Cold Chisel tickets flew out the door in 2011, so this is the chance for fans to see Jimmy Barnes live when he performs at Beachfest on March 23.

Beachfest promises over 6 hours of the best Aussie Rock in full outdoor concert production, with gates opening at 4pm through to 10.15pm (approximately). Patrons can bring their own deck chairs and picnics and enjoy a festival atmosphere with delicious food stalls and fully licensed facilities. Beachfest will be a huge date on the SA Festival calendar.

“We are delighted to be presenting Beachfest as a major fundraising initiative for Surf Life Saving SA”, said Elaine Farmer, CEO. “The line up of Australian rock royalty is sure to draw a huge crowd outdoor at South Adelaide Football Club, with all proceeds from Beachfest supporting Surf Life Saving SA.”

Jimmy’s career as both a solo performer and as the lead vocalist with the legendary Cold Chisel has made him one of the most popular and best-selling Australian music artists of all time. Best known for fronting Cold Chisel, Jimmy performed to sell out crowds throughout the latest iconic tour and recently at Sounds by the River, Mannum, which also sold out. In October 2005, Jimmy Barnes was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in his own right (Cold Chisel had already been inducted in 1993).

Performing as special guest on the night is Jon Stevens, most recognised for his work as the lead singer of Australian band Noiseworks. Jon Steven’s remarkable career spans over 20 years, during which has enjoyed many achievements; including ARIA chart-topping success as front man of legendary Australian band Noiseworks. 2011 saw Jon release his solo albums Changing Times and Testify. A solo artist in high demand, Jon Stevens still remains one of Australia’s most versatile and formidable talents in multiple facets.

Also performing at Beachfest is Daddy Cool himself, Ross Wilson. Ross is renowned for his hits Eagle Rock, Come Said The Boy and Touch of Paradise, just to name a few. Over the last 40 years, he’s been part of iconic bands such as Mondo Rock and Daddy Cool. Over the years, Ross has also written songs for Jimmy Barnes, The Screaming Jets, John Farnham, You Am I and Troy Cassar-Daley. Ross first lead Daddy Cool in the 1970s, moving to Mondo Rock in the late 1970-80s. Ross rocks out from start to finish and Beachfest patrons will find themselves singing along to hit after hit, after hit!

The Black Sorrows were simply a way for singer Joe Camilleri to play some fun, low-pressure gigs after the dissolution of Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons. Hits included Chained to the Wheel, Harley and Rose and Hold on to Me. The current Black Sorrows line-up consists of Camilleri, Carranza, Creighton, and returning drummer Tony Floyd, alongside new vocalist Atlanta Coogan who joined the band in 2010. In 2012 the band released “Crooked Little Thoughts”, a 72-page hard cover book including 3 CDs, photos, lyrics and the artwork of Victor Rubin.

Swanee has been part of the fabric of the Australian Rock Industry since he was 14. With hits such as If I Were A Carpenter, Lady What’s Your Name and Temporary Heartache, he joined the iconic The Party Boys in the 80s with hits such as He’s Gonna Step On You Again, Hold Your Head Up and Gloria.
