SVAGO Cucina launches new menu, celebrating five years of authentic artisan Italian cuisine

Adding to the dining experience this winter is SVAGO’s “Mangiamo” shared menu that allows guests to enjoy a curated selection of entrees, pastas, pizzas, and sides or desserts.

SVAGO Cucina in Unley is celebrating a huge milestone this year as it enters its fifth year of serving up authentic artisan Italian cuisine. Since opening, SVAGO has earned a reputation for its dedication to crafting everything in-house, from fresh pastas, to hearty ragus and traditional pizzas.

Inspired by recipes passed down through generations, SVAGO Cucina remains a family-run and family-owned business, committed to using the freshest ingredients and traditional cooking methods that reflect the essence of Italian food and cooking.

This winter, SVAGO has introduced an exciting winter menu, designed to delight both new and loyal customers. Among the highlights are a variety of fresh pasta dishes, alongside with their popular pizzas. Each pasta creation, like the potato gnocchi in a Napoletana sauce and the rigatoni with slow-cooked beef ragu, promises to whisk diners away to Italy with every delicious forkful.

The pizza selection on SVAGO’s new menu is equally as yum, featuring classics like margherita and capricciosa, alongside unique options such as a mushroom pizza on a white base. For those looking for some smaller options, SVAGO will also be offering a variety of entrees including arancini, polpette (beef meatballs in Napoli sauce), and a prosciutto plate.

SVAGO Cucina, which opened its doors in 2019, battled the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the initial lack of financial aid, SVAGO persevered through this tricky time with resilience, supported by its loyal patrons and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.

“Just as we got exposure and were ramping up, COVID hit and shut us down,” Owner of SVAGO Cucina Nancy says.

“It was really hard, we had a lot of young kids from Italy here as well [working]. We put some of them up in our own place, so we helped each other through that period.”

As a family-run establishment, SVAGO places exceptional customer service at the heart of its mission. Nancy and her husband lead a team dedicated to going above and beyond customer expectations, offering top-tier service in a modern, yet inviting space. The name “SVAGO,” which translates to “avocation” and “relaxation,” perfectly embodies their mission of creative a warm and inclusive atmosphere.

“We have quite a high standard of customer service, we are a table service restaurant,” Nancy says.

“We try and go above and beyond customer expectations, whether that’s the food or the service, even just the ambience.

“It’s very family friendly, so we welcome everyone.”

Beyond its restaurant doors, SVAGO caters to a variety of events, from corporate gatherings, to intimate celebrations like birthdays and weddings. With a menu featuring everything from gourmet pizzas to delectable canapés, SVAGO ensures that every event is infused with the flavours of Italy.

Their off-site catering service, featuring a charming Ape Piaggio truck equipped with an Artisan built Pizza Oven, by MP Forni in Campobasso (IT), brings the authentic flavours of Italy to any venue or private residence.

Rooted in a heritage of home-cooked meals and a passion for authentic flavours, SVAGO Cucina is a reflection of the owners’ heritage, serving dishes inspired by generations of family recipes that blend tradition with modern cooking.

“We were always very passionate about our own cooking and our parents cooking which has been passed down from generation to generation,” Nancy says.

“We thought we’d use those fresh ingredients in a restaurant and offer them to the public.”
