Swap, shop & upcycle at Adelaide’s Second Life Market this Sunday

Refresh your wardrobe the sustainable way at Adelaide’s Second Life Market, featuring vintage fashion, a clothing swap, and more.

The Second Life Market is returning to Adelaide this March, and it’s bringing a whole lot more than just vintage fashion. On Sunday 30 March, the Market Shed will be buzzing once again packed with pre-loved style, handmade goods, and something a little unexpected.

This year, local artist and fashion designer, Chelsea Farquhar is joining in the fun. For a short window during the event, Farquhar will be on-site offering free custom embellishments on clothes brought in by market-goers. Think collage-style art meets fashion. Items will be stitched, glued, layered and reimagined.

You can bring along a favourite old piece you’ve been meaning to revive, or grab something from one of the stalls and have it transformed on the spot. Either way, it’s a chance to walk out with something genuinely yours and a complete one-off.

As always, the market will feature a handpicked lineup of vintage stalls and local designers. There’ll be gear from well-loved spots like No Scrubs Vintage, Pineapple Vintage, Filter Store and Shop Pond.

For something more offbeat, keep an eye out for Zaze Zaze Jewels and newcomer Van Brussel, bringing something fresh to the scene.

If you’re the type who hoards clothes but only wears the same three outfits on repeat (you’re not alone), the Adelaide Fashion Collective’s clothing swap might just be your answer. Bring your clean, wearable pieces, and exchange them for something different.

A clothing swap is a fun and sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe without spending a cent.

And in the spirit of making space, Red Cross donation stations will be set up too, so you can pass on what you don’t need and make room for something with a little more character.

Adding a layer of art to the day is Martina Beka, whose sculptural work will fill the venue. If you caught her debut show at this year’s Fringe, you’ll know what kind of dreamlike atmosphere to expect.

Music will be playing all day, thanks to a lineup of DJs, and if you’re keen to beat the crowds, VIP access starts from 10:30am. The rest of the public can dive in from 11, with the market running through to 4pm.

If you’ve been meaning to shop more consciously or just fancy a change of pace from the usual Sunday routine, this is the place to be. Come for the fashion, stay for the energy and eave with something you’ll treasure for years.
