Life is just like a lemon but cakes make it sweet, is the motto of Unley’s Sweetlemon patisserie.
The cosy little cake store located on Unley road is any sweet tooth’s ides of heaven.
Stocked full of sweet treats such as cakes, slices, tarts and trifles it is unique ingredients that make Sweetlemon such a standout.
The summer special menu is inspired by the flavours of the Philippines.
Featuring Filipino classics such as Halo-Halo and Palabok, the best part is all of the ingredients are homemade (even the ice cream).
For those who aren’t up with Filipino foodie culture we’ve broken it down for you:
Halo-Halo:
– A delicious cold mixture of sweetened sweet potato, banana, nata de coco, red beans, ube halaya, shaved ice, evaporated milk, topped with ube ice cream and Leche flan!
Ube is also known as Taro, it is a sweet yam that is a purple colour with a deliciously sweet taste with a hint of vanilla.
It’s a perfect treat for summer
Palabok:
– Anato shrimp-infused sauce and pork mince, glossed over white rice noodles and topped with crumbled pork crackling, egg, puto and Sweetlemons very special homemade chicharon.
If the Filipino treats don’t already have your mouth watering Sweetlemon also uses a variety of other Asian flavours including Green Tea.
