Adelaide, get ready for the latest podcast to grace our airwaves!

The brains behind TABOO, the SA social enterprise striving to eradicate period poverty, have launched a brand new podcast The Flow. While the company has your periods covered every month, they are now taking to the mic to chat and learn about all things health, wellbeing, gender equality, and of course, periods.

Co-founders and powerhouse duo, Isobel Marshall and Eloise Hall, will host the pod with TABOO’s education administrator Ophelia Veloudos.

“This company has been organic and comfortable right from the start and we think podcasts are such an amazing platform to continue those conversations we’ve been having,” says Marshall.

“Podcasts are so accessible and we love the idea that anyone can tap into the conversation at anytime.”

Joining the hosts will be a line-up of positive influences, like Australian of the year, Grace Tame and Triple J host and endometriosis advocate, Bridget Hustwaite.

“Our stories are informative but also very personal they will feel like a chat with a friend over a glass of wine, but we hope that our audiences will come away feeling empowered from the conversations,” continues Marshall.

Next Wednesday, the TABOO team will be hosting a launch party at one of Adelaide’s favourite city pubs, Sparkke at the Whitmore.  A ticket will grant you entry to the event, a glass of bubbles from Silent Noise Wines, canapés and a takeaway TABOO gift.

“The launch party is designed to celebrate our first few episodes – but we are also really keen for members of the public to come up with ideas for upcoming seasons,” says Marshall.

“We want to hear the public about topics and guests that they would like to hear in future episodes.”

At the event, TABOO will set up a make-shift podcast studio for guests to enter and record questions to be included and answered in The Flow pod, injecting community voice straight into the exciting conversation.

The social enterprise has gone from strength to strength since its conception in 2016, with TABOO sanitary products available in all good pharmacies across the state. Earlier this year, Marshall was named 2021’s Young Australian of the Year to recognise her and Hall’s inspiring education and health initiative.

“Lots of people relate to our cause and we have been so lucky to have such an incredibly generous community to help us launch and proceed from there,” says Marshall.

“It feels like people are ready for this conversation now, for so many years it’s been a silenced topic and now people have begun to open up about conversations about menstruation, and that’s a space we can really thrive in.”

The Flow podcast will be available on all good podcast listening apps, with the first season live from today.

The Flow podcast launch will be hosted at Sparkke at the Whitmore, with tickets priced at $35. The event will run Wednesday August 11, from 5:30 until 7:30pm.

To purchase your ticket, head to the TABOO’s event page, RSVP by Thursday August 4.
