TAFE SA brings beauty to the forefront

Celebrity hairdresser and make-up artist Dale Dorning will lead TAFE SA’s Hair and Beauty session styling team at this year’s Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF).

Over 20 TAFE SA Hair and Beauty lecturers and students from metropolitan and regional campuses will be working backstage creating the hair and make-up looks for five of the Adelaide Fashion Festival Parades.

They include all three TAFE SA Fashion Showcase and From Finesse with Love Parades held from the 12th – 15th of October at Prince Alfred College.

Dale Dorning, who has worked with Delta Goodrem, Miranda Kerr and Princess Mary, is Make-up director for the AFF parades and has been an inspirational educator to the TAFE SA Hair and Beauty lecturers and students.

“I’ve worked with the TAFE SA Hair and Beauty team for many years. They are beauty therapists, makeup artists, nail technicians –they are experts in everything. The Adelaide Fashion Festival will showcase their talents and the high standard of practical training at TAFE SA,” Mr Dorning said.

The TAFE SA Hair and Beauty team led by Grace Maiorano will give staff and students the opportunity to hone their skills as they provide make up for all seven parades, which equates to over 150 models.

Merrill Gratton, Educational Manager for TAFE SA Hair and Beauty, believes there is no better way to increase the skills and passion of her educators by providing opportunities to work on AFF. “The students assist the educators and learn in a creative space that is high fashion, which provides a pathway for our students who aspire to be Session Stylists. Students will work alongside some of the best Hair and
Make Up artists in Australia.”

TAFE SA Hair and Beauty apprentice Laura Schomburgk, looks forward to working in the Session Styling Team. “I have always aspired to work in the Australian Hair Fashion scene and soon I will be working at professional fashion shows and learning from the best in the industry.”
