Christopher Hale’s Sylvan Coda Project promised flamenco infused jazz and a Sunday afternoon of cool, sultry sounds; happily, it did not disappoint. The show opened with Aloysius Leeson playing beautiful Spanish solo guitar before introducing his Quartet to the stage.
There was a quiet air of optimism ahead of the packed out opening to the Adelaide Guitar Festival with Spanish classical guitar maestro Pepe Romero and young upcoming Brazilian star Yamandu Costa. The involvement of the Adelaide Art Orchestra added another level of expectation and excitement.

This cheeky humour is all part of Govan’s charm, which he wove seamlessly into an amazing set of guitar virtuosity, in front of a sold-out house of admirers.
This year’s Guitar Festival is a delightful offering of some of the most impressive guitarists and performers in the world. Debashish Bhattacharya, is no exception with his reputation as a slide guitarist with an impressive instrumental arsenal proceeding him.
The impressive lineup of musicians gracing the stage during this years Adelaide International Guitar Festival is in itself a masterpiece, as is the collaboration between Geoffrey Morris & Siobhan Stagg in what could pass as a mini-opera. The pair presented a delightful merging of Baroque & Classico-Romantico guitar with soprano vocals in a medley of playful and bubbly love songs.
