Fast-paced Spanish guitars and several dancers commanded the stage in an invigorating, charming and complex showcase of flamenco dance.
There was a quiet air of optimism ahead of the packed out opening to the Adelaide Guitar Festival with Spanish classical guitar maestro Pepe Romero and young upcoming Brazilian star Yamandu Costa. The involvement of the Adelaide Art Orchestra added another level of expectation and excitement.
The first piece, Uncharted Seas, is rooted in the traditional Kathak style of dance from Northern India, while the second, Timeless, is a contemporary work that uses Kathak as its basis, but explores new, expanded techniques and ideas.

There was no shortage of applause for everything that both groups did during the evening. This was a performance that thrilled and amazed.
