Drawing on four of Shakespeare's history plays (Richard II, Henry IV and Henry V), director Rob Croser has woven an enthralling single play.
The Mystery of the Hansom Cab is a melodrama, which means that the audience gets to hiss and boo the dastardly deeds of the villain, cheer the handsome hero, swoon over the lovely heroine, and have a great sing-a-long with the cast.
This is a most worthwhile endeavour and, if all goes well, marks the start of a project that will continue in future years.
