Pelican Productions celebrates 15 years of Music Theatre Camp in 2019 with a wealth of talented up-and-coming musical theatre performers from all genres of the performance camp - singers, dancers and actors
With music and lyrics by the renowned Lin-Manuel Miranda, (The Heights, Hamilton) and Tom Kitt and Amanda Green (Next to Normal) Bring It On: The Musical is an exciting contemporary option for youth groups. The musical is very loosely based on the 2000 film of the same name and focuses on the competitive world of cheerleading and over-the-top team rivalries.
The ever-popular Annie, based on Little Orphan Annie, has been shortened and lost some of its text to allow to be performed by a youth cast and in Pelican Productions recent effort at the Arts Theatre it worked rather well.
Pelican has a reputation for good shows and with the production team they put together for this, their reputation is safe.
For a number of years now, Pelican Productions have held Music Theatre Camps in the January school holidays which culminate in a 'showcase' at the end. This year it's 'A Walk In The Book'.
Many modern stage musicals rely on a piece of technical wizardry that becomes synonymous with the show and an audience expects to see it: Wicked MUST have Glinda make her first appearance in a bubble; the chandelier MUST crash to the floor in Phantom Of The Opera; Mary Poppins MUST fly; and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang MUST have a car that floats and flies.
The Little Mermaid Jr is a shortened musical stage version for young performers of the Broadway production of Disney’s 1989 animated film.
Pelican Productions is taking a magical journey ‘under the sea’ these school holidays when they present The Little Mermaid Jr from 24-27 April and they want you to come along for the ride!
