Meet The Vamps is the debut album from self described UK pop-punk-accoustic-driven band The Vamps. Having met and formed through the magic of Internet and social media, the group have quickly become a sensation with their cheerful, youthful sound. Meet The Vamps isn’t your average boy-band, screaming-teenage-girl-magnet, over-played-on-commercial-radio series of tunes; but it is certainly for a younger demographic.
Grammy® and Emmy® award-winning artist's first headlining tour in six years is selling out venues around the world and has now announced dates in Australia for 2014
Following the release of their two singles, Back in Time and This is who I am, Adelaide’s boy band, At Sunset, have been hard at work. Already working on their third single the boys have been keeping busy to ensure hungry fans are not kept waiting.
There was something oddly tongue-in-cheek in seeing concert goers as young as 7 singing along to Nicki Minaj’s hits like ‘Come on a Cone’ (“Put my d**k in your face”) or ‘Roman’s Revenge’ (“I’m a bad bitch, I’m a c*nt, and I kick that ho, punt!”) at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre last night. Anyone worried the rapper-cum-popette would tone her Pink Friday Reloaded Tour down for the kiddies sake must not know Nicki, or at the very least, 'Roman', very well.
Following on from singles ‘Naughty’ and ‘Like a Girl in Love’, 18 year old Australian popette Elen Levon has readied her latest hit, the uber-catchy ‘Dancing to the Same Song’.
In a short space of time, Melbourne’s Gypsy & The Cat toed the line of the Australian musical landscape between shimmering synth-pop and out-there indie pop with their debut album ‘Gilgamesh’; naturally and effortlessly making an impact whilst building a strong fan base globally. Its follow up, the duo’s eagerly awaited new album The Late Blue, will be released on October 19, followed by a national tour dates starting October 26.
Without a major label debut, a single at radio or even a music video released yet, the hype over Adelaide-based pop group At Sunset is nothing short of mind-blowing. Just hours before I visited brothers Harrison and Andrew Kantarias and Jae Curtis at their recording studio, they were flanked by fans in Rundle Mall asking for photos and autographs. Not to mention my Twitter mentions blew up like I’d never seen the minute I tweeted that I was with the boys. Sure, I’d interviewed and met a lot of big wheels, but this was something else.
Overheard at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Tuesday night: “I love Kimbra. I loved her before she was popular.” True, Kimbra Johnston’s popularity has skyrocketed in the last 12 months (special thanks to Gotye for that one), but what is perhaps most refreshing about the 22 year old Kiwi singer and hipster darling is even with all the attention and accolades , she’s been nothing but herself, and it doesn’t look like she’ll be changing anytime soon. Tuesday night’s show, the first on her most recent national tour, couldn’t have summed it up better.
