Megan Washington braved the cold and the at-times very loud and tipsy audience to deliver a short but sweet set at the gorgeous Bird in Hand Winery on Saturday, May 19. Without a recent album or body of work to promote (although coming off the back of the hugely successful I Believe You Liar and Holy Moses EP), the show was Megan at her most free and fun-loving; relishing the chance to sing fan favourites ‘The Hardest Part’ and ‘Clementine’ next to b-side Teenage Fury and even a cover of The Divinyls’ classic ‘I Touch Myself’.
Overheard at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Tuesday night: “I love Kimbra. I loved her before she was popular.” True, Kimbra Johnston’s popularity has skyrocketed in the last 12 months (special thanks to Gotye for that one), but what is perhaps most refreshing about the 22 year old Kiwi singer and hipster darling is even with all the attention and accolades , she’s been nothing but herself, and it doesn’t look like she’ll be changing anytime soon. Tuesday night’s show, the first on her most recent national tour, couldn’t have summed it up better.
Criminally underrated, Bluejuice are the epitome of feel-good music. Be it brash opener ‘Can’t Keep Up’, disco-fied ‘The Recession’ or “song to f***ing” (as lead singer Stav described it) ‘I’ll Put You On’, the band switched sounds almost as fast as front man Jake Stone removed items of clothing.
The beats are harder but never brash, and Suffa and Pressure's rhymes are smooth yet spitfire. Fun yet pensive is not an easy line to toe, but the Hilltop Hoods do it with ease. Drinking from the Sun is proof enough our local lads can most definitely still hold their own.
Co-written and directed by Bruce Robinson, The Rum Diary stars Johnny Depp as journalist Paul Kemp who left the loud insanity of New York in 1960 and travelled to the pristine island of Puerto Rico to work at the San Juan Star newspaper.
Leather jackets, bowling shirts, pomade, greased up-dos and more pin-up than you can poke a stick at; no it wasn’t a Grease convention. Rockabilly icon Brian Setzer’s Rockabilly Riot was in town. Warmed up by local chanteuse Lanie Lane, the crowd lapped up the sweet mix of country, jazz and blues from Lane and her […]
If you’re thinking of going to watch CONTRABAND be prepared to strap yourself in, hold onto your seat for a twisting, turning and sometimes confusing ride through the dark world of post-9/11 high-stakes smuggling on the high seas.
This means war is a romantic comedy due for release on Valentine’s Day, 2012.

Othello is a tragic tale written by William Shakespeare more than 400 years ago and is a story of love, jealousy, prejudice, good and evil.
You know a product has nailed a concept when your staff are smuggling it out of your office.
With a huge and varied range of dishes, the menu at The Earl of Aberdeen has something to suit every taste. The famous Coopers Alehouse Schnitzel has become an Adelaide legend and by all means you should drop in and see if you can tackle this monster meal, but there is also a more refined side to dining at the Earl. Glam Adelaide sent Food and Wine Editor Paul Wood to get a taste of The Earl menu.
Well well well, 18-inches of beef schnitzel. We came. We saw. We (almost) conquered.
Sweeping through Williamstown and Lyndoch and making my way back through Gawler towards Adelaide, it was hard not to be impressed by the Japanese carmaker’s efforts at creating a near-perfect mix of emissions reducing technology, fuel economy and high-end motoring luxury.
It was in 1964 when The Beatles landed at Adelaide Airport. A third of the city's population lined the streets for a glimpse of the Fab Four's motorcade, throwing rose petals at their car. It comes then as no surprise that today, 46 years on, the opportunity to relive those distant memories and indulge in this genius take on The Beatles was to be so popular here in Adelaide.
With prices starting at $36,000 for the standard model and $39,000 (before on-road costs) for the luxury model, the new Camry Hybrid would be the perfect choice for road warriors and fleet managers, or for a family who is looking for the right mix of power, fuel efficiency and comfort.
In the play's best moments the character appear real. Watching it you almost feel like you are journalist tasked with interviewing them all.
