The official countdown to the Special Olympics National Games will begin this Saturday with a mini Olympics event in Gawler Place, Rundle Mall and a torch ceremony which will mark the start of the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
As the Special Olympics World Games 2011 finished in a spectacular closing ceremony this week, the seven South Australian athletes celebrated their achievements at this international event.
Special Olympics Australia’s 2010 National Games has been lauded as South Australia’s best Festival or Event at the State’s annual Tourism Awards.
Following their success at the National Games held recently in Adelaide, six athletes and two volunteer coaches and team officials from Special Olympics South Australia (SOSA) have been selected as part of the Australian team going to the 2011 World Games being held in Athens, 25 June – 4 July.
