There was a quiet air of optimism ahead of the packed out opening to the Adelaide Guitar Festival with Spanish classical guitar maestro Pepe Romero and young upcoming Brazilian star Yamandu Costa. The involvement of the Adelaide Art Orchestra added another level of expectation and excitement.
Established in 2001, the Adelaide Art Orchestra comprises top freelance professional players in South Australia & boasts over 120 Cabaret Festival shows already.
Once again, this was a double bill, with Manuel Barrueco for the first half and Yamandú Costa after the interval. These ‘two for the price of one’ concerts, with related but contrasting performances, were a great idea and definitely proved very popular with patrons.
It was not surprising that this concert, like so many others, was sold out well before the Festival started.
