If you could go anywhere, where would you go? The members of the ensemble take turns in answering this question. One wants to go to Romania, another wants to be under the ocean and another wants to go anywhere, so long as he is alone. They tell of their desires and take the audience with them on these highly personal journeys.
The performance uses a green screen on one side of the stage to create video, shown on a number of screens around the stage, making this a high-tech dance piece. The other side of the stage allows plenty of space for ensemble performance. It also includes spoken word and recorded text in an advanced multi-media presentation.
The design is by Gaelle Mellis and lighting is by David Gadsden which, with the music by composer Ian Moorhead, completes this complex interplay of elements. Under the direction of Daniel Koerner the performers work within this rich framework of surrounding creative ideas to present a superb piece of dance theatre.
This is another excellent offering from Restless Dance Theatre, and a worthy production for their 20th year.
