Tasmania meets the Adelaide Hills with a unique wine tasting experience

This Adelaide Hills cellar door has introduced a fresh twist to its cool-climate wine experience.

In the heart of the Adelaide Hills, Petaluma’s Woodside Cellar Door offers more than sweeping vineyard views and elegant wines. The cellar door features two celebrated Tasmanian labels—Bay of Fires and Eddystone Point—which adds a new chapter of cool-climate exploration to its tasting experiences.

This move deepens Petaluma’s long-standing commitment to sourcing from Australia’s finest cool-climate regions, inviting guests to explore not just the wines of the Adelaide Hills but now the crisp, vibrant expressions of Tasmania.

“Our Tasmanian wines share centre stage at our Woodside Cellar Door, providing a comparative experience for our member base and visitors. The Adelaide Hills setting allows for an exploration of nuances between these varietals from different regions,” says National Cellar Door Manager Andrew McDowell.

Visitors can expect more than just a tasting flight. From the contemporary space, with its panoramic balcony overlooking rolling hills, guests are encouraged to linger—comparing the delicate aromatics of a Tasmanian pinot noir with its Adelaide Hills counterpart, or tracing the lively acidity of an Eddystone Point white through to the more structured varietals of the local terroir.

At the heart of this evolution is seasoned Tasmanian winemaker Stewart Byrne, recently appointed Lead Winemaker for Bay of Fires and Eddystone Point.

“I am thrilled to embark on this new chapter, bringing my passion and expertise back to Bay of Fires. The commitment to revealing and celebrating the varietal characteristics of Tasmanian fruit aligns seamlessly with my winemaking philosophy. And Eddystone Point, with its fresh backbone of acidity and experimental edge, has been a fascinating journey—one that I am excited to continue,” says Byrne.

Both Bay of Fires and Eddystone Point will remain deeply rooted in their Tasmanian origins. All wines will continue to be produced exclusively in Tasmania, ensuring that their distinct regional character is preserved.

Established in the 1990s, Bay of Fires has long championed the elegance of cool-climate winemaking, while Eddystone Point, founded in 2013, is known for its youthful energy and willingness to push boundaries. Together, they now join Petaluma’s offering at Woodside, promising a tasting experience that spans regions and styles with ease.

Petaluma Wines continues to work closely with regional tourism partners and the South Australian Tourism Commission to shape premium experiences that celebrate both place and provenance. This latest addition is an invitation to discover not only new wines but the unique landscapes and stories behind them.
