Inspired by all the fun of the circus, a limited run of this eclectic new flavour will be available on tap and in cans at venues across South Australia.

The independent Adelaide Hills Brewery Prancing Pony debuted their new brew at the GABS Craft Beer & Cider Festival in Melbourne over the weekend, with co-founder Corinna Steeb thrilled at the bold flavour’s rapturous reception.

“People really responded to the fun colour of our stand and loved the Freak Show! We love attending the GABS Festival each year, it’s always a party” she says.

The slow-brewed beer follows the same unique process that has become signature to the Prancing Pony brand. Co-founder and Head Brewer Frank Samson draws inspiration for his each beer from his truly uninhibited imagination, creating short, free-flowing stories that create the personality and story for each beer and provides a direction for how each product should taste and smell.

Freak Show, as you may have guessed, was inspired by a chaotic, kaleidoscopopic circus scene complete with monkeys, one-eyed lions, fairy floss, a Zeppelin that has crashed into the circus tent and apocalyptic blue-tongue lizards.

The intriguing taste profile of this vibrant beer is described as “The entire contents of Nana’s spice cabinet that have fallen into a barrel of hot rum” featuring a plethora of enticing flavours including banana, cinnamon, vanilla, berries, orange, jasmine and red velvet.

Since its debut at last weekend’s GABS Festival, Freak Show is now available in cans, cartons and on tap in venues across South Australia. However, if the sound of this experimental brew has tickled your tastebuds you’ll need to act quickly, with only a very limited run available and the recipe not being brewed again for at least another 12 months.
