With Tasting Australia making a grand return this May, Adelaide foodies are in for a treat. And with Australia’s top chefs, SA’s best locations and a jam-packed schedule of amazing food and drink all set for the festival, there really is something for everyone. Plates with Purpose is a special one-night-only event that’s heading to Adelaide Oval, bringing together incredible food, big-name speakers and a powerful mission. Set to take over the William Magarey Room on Thursday, May 14th, the event will bring guests a thoughtfully curated evening that celebrates sustainability, community and seriously good food.
Presented in collaboration with OzHarvest, Plates with Purpose will feature a three-course menu built around rescued and locally sourced ingredients, proving that sustainability and flavour can go hand in hand.
Leading the kitchen are Adelaide Oval Executive Chef Phil Pope and OzHarvest Head Chef Genevieve, who will craft a menu of canapes, entrees, mains, and dessert. Expect dishes that are creative yet mindful, all designed to highlight the potential of ingredients that might otherwise go to waste.
The night isn’t just a sit-down dinner; it will also feature live cooking demonstrations, entertainment and a lineup of guest speakers. Among them is Ronni Kahn, the founder of OzHarvest and a leading voice in Australia’s fight against food waste. Her work has helped rescue food and redirect it to people in need, turning what would have been waste into something genuinely life-changing.
Guests will also hear from Adelaide Oval CEO Nick Addison, who will share insights into how one of the world’s most iconic venues is continuing to innovate, particularly when it comes to sustainability and community connection.
With tickets priced at $145, the experience is designed to be indulgent and purposeful, appealing to food lovers who want to enjoy a great night out while supporting a bigger cause. Is also an inclusive event, catering to a range of dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan and coeliac options, and offering accessible facilities for guests.
