Tasting Australia will be back and bigger than ever in 2026, with plenty of events that any food lover won’t want to miss. Joining that lineup of not-to-be-missed events is an unforgettable evening of wine and wildlife at Monarto Safari Park, as they team up with the Langhorne Creek wine region to share a selection of its award-winning wines with some great food and even better scenery.
The experience begins with welcome drinks and canapes at the park’s giraffe platform, giving guests a rare chance to learn all about the resident giraffes and their fascinating history at Monarto, while enjoying a glass of Langhorne Creek’s very best.
From there, guests will take a short walk to the Waterhole Function Centre, where a three-course dinner awaits. Each course will be perfectly paired with wines from Langhorne Creek, showcasing the depth and elegance that have made the region one of Australia’s hidden gems. Across the evening, eight wines will be poured, allowing attendees to explore the difference of styles that thrive in this unique climate.

The event will be hosted by well-known wine personality Katie Spain, who will guide the evening with conversations about the winemakers and members of Langhorne Creek’s multi-generational wine families. She’ll share stories of the region’s agricultural heritage, its ties to the land and water, and its special connection with Monarto Safari Park.
Langhorne Creek’s character is shaped by its environment, and that’s something Katie will be diving into. Located near Lake Alexandrina at the end of the Murray-Darling River system and influenced by breezes from the Southern Ocean, the region enjoys a cool maritime climate. These cooling winds help extend the growing season, allowing grapes to ripen slowly while retaining natural acidity. The result is wines that are balanced and elegant.
That location and sense of place are what make the collaboration with Monarto the perfect fit. The safari park, part of Zoos SA, is known for its expansive open-range habitats and significant conservation programs, including captive breeding, habitat restoration and innovative techniques like cross-fostering to support endangered species. The evening offers a reminder that both wine and wildlife are deeply connected to landscape and climate.

The event is for guests aged 18 and over and is wheelchair accessible. Vegetarian and coeliac dietary requirements can be catered for, although organisers note that minor changes to the animal experience may occur.
For those wanting an easy journey, an optional return coach transfer is available from the Arkaba Hotel in Fullarton, departing at 3:15pm and returning at approximately 10pm, with limited capacity.
So if you’ve been looking for an event of all things fine wine, while still taking a walk on the wild side, this is sure to be a one-of-a-kind celebration.
