Tasting Australia is rolling back into town, and this year’s lineup is looking more exciting than ever. Over the next ten days, South Australia will turn into a playground for foodies with over 150 events spread across Adelaide and its surrounding regions. Hosted by RAA Travel, this year’s festival follows hot on the heels of big events like AFL Gather Round and LIV Golf Adelaide.
From train journeys that double as dining experiences to workshops where you can get your hands dirty, Tasting Australia offers a bit of everything. The festival isn’t just a chance to try great food; it’s an opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business. This year, international chefs like James Henry from France and Claudette Zepeda from the US will join local stars like Matt Moran to cook up a storm.
One of the highlights is the Tasting Australia Airlines, where guests fly directly into regional SA with celebrity chefs, getting a firsthand look at where their food comes from. Another is Tasting Australia by Train—a day-long trip from Melbourne to Adelaide aboard The Ghan, packed with top-notch food and drink.

The action isn’t just out in the regions; Adelaide’s Victoria Square is home to the festival hub, Town Square, which is open daily from 11 am and free to enter. It’s packed with food stalls offering everything from gourmet treats at Africola Canteen to Vietnamese delights at Ong Vietnamese, and of course, local favorites like Peel St.
New this year is the Town Square Canteen, which brings flavors from regional icons directly to festival-goers in the city. It’s a taste of places like the Prairie Hotel from the Flinders Ranges or Watervale Hotel from Clare Valley, without leaving town.
Apart from the buzz in the city, regional events will have you enjoying long lunches in vineyards, fresh seafood by the coast, and even a sailing trip around Kangaroo Island.
Last year, Tasting Australia drew a crowd of over 68,000 to the Town Square, and this year is expected to be just as packed. If you’re in South Australia, don’t miss out on this culinary celebration—it’s a fantastic way to dig into the local culture, meet the makers, and of course, eat some incredible food.
Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison said that Tasting Australia would showcase South Australia’s globally renowned food and beverage sector to visitors from all over.
“It is great to see so many regional producers and venues in the spotlight, extending the benefits of the festival right across the state by helping boost visitation and expenditure to local businesses.”
“I encourage foodies and festivalgoers alike to get out and explore all that South Australia and our world-class producers have to offer over the next 10 delicious days.”
Karena Armstrong, Festival Director of Tasting Australia, said “Adelaide and regional South Australia is set for 10 delicious days of eating and drinking – from soaking up the atmosphere in Town Square to discovering what puts South Australia’s local produce on the world stage with fresh seafood from Eyre Peninsula or a perfect Clare Valley Riesling, there is so much on offer.”
Meira Harel, Co-Drinks Curator, said “South Australia does drinks so well, and Tasting Australia is set to celebrate all things beverage – from wine, beer and spirits to no or low alcohol events, we have it all.”
“Enjoy a drink with friends or family in the heart of Tasting Australia at Town Square – entry is always free. We look forward to welcoming you soon.”
