South Australia welcomes yet another two European cycling teams to Adelaide today, as the Dutch Rabobank team and the Luxembourg-based, Team Leopard-Trek, touch down.
Astana’s Allan Davis and Richie Porte from Saxo Bank SunGard will also arrive later today, with Hayden Roulston, from HTC-Highroad, flying in to Adelaide this evening.
Davis is the only rider to compete at all 13 editions of the Santos Tour Down Under (1999 – 2011). In 2010, he won gold at the Commonwealth Games in India in the Men’s Road Race. He also won bronze in the road race at the 2010 World Championships in Geelong.
Team Leopard-Trek is a new professional road bicycle racing team from Luxembourg led by the brothers Andy and Frank Schleck, with Brian Nygaard and Kim Anderson as team managers.
South Australia’s Stuart O’Grady (who is already in Adelaide) will debut with Team Leopard-Trek at the 2011 Santos Tour Down Under.
Rabobank’s Graeme Brown finished third on Stage 6 of the 2010 Santos Tour Down Under and is a four time Santos Tour Down Under stage winner (2001, 2003, 2008 and 2009).
