Temporary partial closure of Outer Harbor, Port Dock and Grange rail lines this weekend

This weekend, key Adelaide rail lines will see temporary closures for essential upgrades, with substitute bus services operational.

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport has announced a temporary partial closure of the Outer Harbor, Port Dock and Grange rail lines this weekend to allow for essential maintenance and signalling upgrades.

From 8pm Friday, 31 October to last service Sunday, 2 November, trains will not operate between Woodville Railway Station and the Outer Harbor, Grange, and Port Dock stations. During this period, substitute buses will run along the affected routes, ensuring passengers can still connect with all services arriving and departing from Woodville Railway Station.

Train services between Adelaide Railway Station and Woodville will continue as normal throughout the weekend.

The scheduled works will include signalling maintenance and the replacement of ageing railway sleepers, which must be carried out while trains are not operating. The closure timing has been deliberately chosen to minimise disruption, as weekend patronage on Adelaide Metro rail services is typically around 60 per cent lower than on weekdays.

Regular train services will resume with the first service on Monday, 3 November.

Commuters are encouraged to visit adelaidemetro.com.au for real-time updates and to plan their journeys using the Adelaide Metro trip planner.

The Department thanks passengers for their patience and understanding while these important infrastructure upgrades are completed.
