Iconic American hospitality brand TGI Fridays is marking its 10th year in South Australia with the relaunch of their original South Australian restaurant.
Located in the Westfield Marion Shopping Centre in Oaklands Park, TGI Fridays Marion has reopened with a groovy new look.
The brand’s crowd-pleasing menu of American-style burgers, loaded potato skins, barbecue ribs and eclectic cocktails have proved a hit with Adelaide diners to date. People love its world-famous happy hour, uplifting atmosphere and friendly guest service.
Born in New York in the 1960s as the city’s first singles bar and grill open to unchaperoned women, TGI Fridays went on to pioneer hospitality mainstays such as ‘happy hour’ and served as a filming location for 1988’s Cocktail starring Tom Cruise and Australia’s own Bryan Brown.
Melbourne-based Signature Hospitality Group (SHG) acquired the Asia Pacific arm of the business in 2017 and has quickly set about modernising the guest experience and elevating homegrown ingredients within its share-style food offering.
SHG chief executive James Sinclair said now has been the perfect time to reopen.
“After the year that’s just passed, it’s never been more important to come together with friends and family and enjoy each other’s company over great food in a fun atmosphere,” James said.
“This is exactly the type of place that we’ve created at TGI Fridays Marion – a place where you can
enjoy classic American dishes with a modern twist and a well-made drink in an unpretentious setting.
“This location has also been enabled with digital ordering on each table so guests can choose to either order from your server or simply tap, order and pay with their phone in a jiffy. I find this really convenient when
having a bite during a busy day.
James said a must-try for first timers is the Ultimate Long Island iced tea paired with their famous cheesy potato skins.
“It’s the perfect way to kickstart a fun weekend in Adelaide,” he said.
The Marion TGI Fridays venue is one of two of the brand’s well-loved locations within South Australia, the
second being located in Tea Tree Plaza. This refurbishment is the fifth opening event for TGI Fridays in 2021.
“With our venues throughout Victoria, NSW, QLD and South Australia performing stronger than many other
casual dining chains at the moment, we could not be more excited to up the ante in South Australia.”
TGI Fridays Marion store is located at 2051A/293-297 Diagonal Rd, Oaklands Park.
