The iconic Fringe Festival is always a highlight of the Adelaide calendar, lighting up the city with a frenzy of fantastic fun and March madness, amazing acts and events.
And as the event draws closer, with baited breath, we have waited to find out, which of our favourite performers will return and discover all the new acts in store.
Today, the moment has finally arrived!
The highly-anticipated 2015 program has officially launched at new psychedelic Fringe Funhouse in Rundle Mall today.
The 2015 program features a record 1,058 events, including 121 cabaret shows, 37 circus and physical theatre shows, 328 comedy events, 33 dance shows, 6 film events,226 music events, 109 theatre productions, 93 art exhibitions, 57 children’s events and 48 special events.
To an early dose of Fringe festivities, the launch in the Mall today featured dozens of performers offering a taste of their shows under the Gawler Place Canopy.
Unveiling the program for his fifth and final Fringe, Director Greg Clarke said this is set to be the best year yet.
“The 2015 Fringe has an extraordinary program of events from spectacularly talented artists from across Australia and the world,” he said.
“This year we’re encouraging people to ‘Experience Something New’, to take a risk, see something new and maybe even discover the next big thing.”
With such an extensive and diverse program, the 2015 Fringe Ambassador Kitty Flanagan encourages Fringe-goers to see at least two shows during the festival.
“First of all pick your absolute favourite act, something you’ve been dying to see, then choose the opposite of that for balance,” she said.
There will be 376 venues next year, 200 in the CBD and 176 in suburban and regional areas, making the Fringe increasingly accessible to people across the state.
