The ANZ Community Ball is set to take place this Saturday 14 March at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
The black-tie event, hosted by the Jodie Lee Foundation, will raise money for twelve South Australian charities, including, Backpacks 4 Kids, Royal Flying Doctor Service Central Operations, LifeChanger, United Way SA and Hutt Street Centre.
The night will be full of entertainment and festivities with South Australian-born entertainer, David Campbell, set to front the highly-anticipated event alongside international jazz music maestro, James Morrison, and his Motown band.
Attendees will be treated to a delightful three-course meal featuring the state’s best local produce, including Murraylands lamb, fresh seafood and a selection of artisanal cheeses.
ANZ Business Banking General Manager for SA / NT, Brendan Rinaldi says the event is a fantastic opportunity for South Australian’s to enjoy a night of great entertainment and local food and wine all while supporting communities in need.
“These charities play a vital role in the community and provide critical support and services including meals for homeless, early learning literacy programs, health promotion activities and providing life-saving aeromedical and primary health across rural Australia,” Rinaldi explains.
To help raise funds for the local charities, a handful of valuable items, worth over $45k combined, will go up for auction on the night.
Perhaps the most coveted item to go under the hammer is a rare Saint & Scholar and Kaesler wine experience for eight people valued at $25k.
The lucky recipient will travel with their seven selected peers to Gumeracha for a unique picnic and wine tasting experience, followed by a visit to Kaesler Wines in the Barossa for an exclusive barrel tasting.
To top it off, a private dinner and luxurious accommodation will be provided by the Crafer’s Hotel.
“This is an unbelievable experience. At Kaesler Wines, we’ll take the group down into the cellar for a barrel tasting. They’ll have a playground of wines to look at. During the barrel tasting, the successful bidder will pick the most amazing wine they can find and we’ll bottle half of that barrel as a private bottling,” says Duxton Capital co-founder and Chairman, Ed Peter.
“We’ll then take the group to the Crafers Hotel, which won best hotel in South Australia this year and best hotel in Australia the year before, and we’ll take care of them for the night.”
There is truly something for everyone, with OTR donating the Bend Experience, a once-in-a-lifetime motorsport experience for car enthusiasts valued at over $10k.
For all the foodies in attendance there will be 50kg of fresh Southern Rock Lobster up for grabs donated by Limestone Coast Fisherman’s Co-operative valued at $5k.
And what sort of auction would it be without some divinely handcrafted jewellery from local jeweller Maria Kenda worth over $7k?
The funds raised from the event will provide at least 20,000 meals to people in need through Hutt Street Centre, fund much-needed teenage mental health programs across the state through LifeChanger and support various projects including a remote patient transfer facility in Mount Gambier through the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
“The recent bushfires have shown how Australians can band together and support each other in a time of need, and it’s a great example of the positive impact charities can make,” says Rinaldi.
“We hope to see the people of SA continue to embrace this sentiment of giving back and join us at the ball to help raise valuable funds, particularly for smaller charities.”
