The Royal South Australian Society Of Arts has today announced that leading hospitality entrepreneurs Jenny and Peter Hurley of The Arkaba Hotel will be supporting the Australian youth art scene by offering $10,000 as the major prize in the Biennial RSASA Youthscape Exhibition beginning in 2018. They will continue supporting the arts after a successful 3 year collaboration with The Adelaide Central School Of Arts. Jane Skeer winner of the 2016 commission work’s are for sale with all proceeds going to the school to be used as a scholarship for the art students.
The acquisitive Youthscape art prize will be open to artists from 18 – 30 years of age. Artists will be asked to create site specific artwork to enhance the large stairwell void with in the Arkaba Hotel building.
Jenny Hurley states “We are thrilled to be working along side the RSASA and to be giving young emerging artists the opportunity to create artwork in the main stairwell of the hotel that will capture and reflect the hotel environment for guests of the hotel to enjoy.”
RSASA Youthscape Exhibitions have been ongoing since 2001 every two years encouraging young artists in all mediums to exhibit their artworks, developing their strategies in the art domain.
Youthscape 2018 is proud to be linking with the Arkaba Hotel for a site specific artwork for the major prize. Artworks in all mediums from artists aged 15 – 30 are welcome to submit a various range of entries, including sizes for the exhibition. The M & M Carbins Trust will also be providing a $5,000 Prize to these young artists. Entry to submit artworks is FREE, with entries open from February 2018 with a close off on Friday 12th May 2018.
The Youthscape winning artwork will remain on display at The Arkaba Hotel for a two year period and will be auctioned with all proceeds being donated back to the RSASA to form a scholarships for future artists.
The RSASA Youthscape Art Exhibition will be open from 24th June 2018 to 15th July 2018 in the RSASA Gallery, along with some of these works from the exhibition that will be on display at The Arkaba Hotel and Kensington Hotel.
