The Art of Burnside Village

Sculpture artists from all over Australia have been invited to submit their individual pieces to be displayed and judged by a professional panel, the public and the Cohen family at Burnside Village Shopping Centre, .

The 18 sculptures on display have been selected as the top finalists and are being exhibited at Burnside Village for two weeks to the general public. They will be clustered in various parts of the internal malls.

As well as creating Burnside Village Shopping Centre, Richard Cohen also collected art and became passionate about both over many years.

It is therefore fitting for a man whose vision was to combine Art and Architecture and his many years as a patron of the Arts in South Australia, that the Richard Cohen OAM Sculpture competition should become an event in his honor.

The judging panel will adjudicate and announce the 1st and 2nd Prize winner on the afternoon of Friday 17th August 2012 at 3.00pm. All public are welcome.

The Peoples Choice Award will be conducted throughout the event and the winner of the people’s choice award will be announced on the 30th August 2012 with a $500 prize awarded to one winning voter.

In memory of Richard Cohen OAM and with the permission of Patricia Cohen, many other unique permanent sculptures have been donated and are on permanent display at Burnside Village. You will be able to enjoy bronze figures “Frivole” and  “Premiers Pas” by Françoise Abraham, metal sculptor Vincent Magni’s “David & Lola”, bronze and cobalt artist Stephen Glassborow’s “Super-Model-in-Blue” as well as carved black-granite fountains by local artist, Silvio Apponyi.

This exhibition is free to the public.
