The Barossa Medieval Fair has been released so ye can plan thy festivities

Lords and ladies! The 2022 Barossa Medieval Fair have just announced their timetable and it’s set to be a two day event you won’t want to miss.

Calling all lords and ladies! The organisers of the 2022 Barossa Medieval Fair have just released the timetable for the two day event that kicks off Saturday 20 August, and you won’t want to miss it.

Both days will begin at 10am with a grand opening that will be followed closely by re-enactment group, New Varangian Guard, who specialise in the history of the Varangian people.

They will be putting on a show of combat arena games like Byzantine combat while the historical fencing experts at Ironclad Academy of the Swords, who sit on both sides of the fence showcasing the martial and theatric side of the sport, will have their helmets held high at the event.

If you miss the initial performances, don’t stress! They’ll be back again bearing swords and shields during multiple sessions throughout the fair.

In a Saturday only event, head over to the Buhurt Combat Area where men and women will battle it out in a 5v5 and 3v3 Medieval Combat Tournament.

After a significant amount of work from Warhounds Armoured Combat, fully-armoured warriors can now wield their swords, maces, axes, and polearms in an epic battle.

On Sunday, the SA Buhurt Cup will be the first of its kind in Australia, attracting combatants from across the country to partake in this extraordinary event of full contact medieval combat.

The fair is hoping to attract around 200 fighters, with major prize money available for both male and female tournaments. The tournaments will run through the entirety of the day and winners will be announced at the end.

Throughout all the events you’ll be immersed in true Middle Age celebrations with medieval specialty bands such as Hedgehog and Lyrebird Consort (Saturday only) bringing you the very best of folk music and dancing—blowing you away with their uplifting flute and string instruments and entrancing you with their harp melodies.

The Barossa Medieval Fair will be held on Saturday 20 August 2022 – Sunday 21 August 2022
