The Barossa WinterFest is returning bigger and better than ever

Embrace the cooler weather with a trip to the Barossa region and enjoy the crisp air with mead in hand as you wander the local market stalls.

We’re sure you’ve noticed that the weather is cooling down so that means getting cosy with bonfires and mulled wine. Luckily for you, the Barossa WinterFest has both of those things, and more, and is back for 2022. And while its original August date has been postponed due to weather (the irony!), the event is still going ahead, mulled wine and all, just later in the year.

Taking place at the impressive heritage building that is Coulthard House, the one-day event is a celebration of all things Winter and embracing the traditions that make the season so unique.

Despite a few scheduling hiccups last year around wild weather and snap lockdowns, the 2021 WinterFest had an amazing response so this year, it’s expanding to bring you even more Winter wonders!

With more market stalls, more food and more fires than you can poke a marshmallow-laden stick at, you’re in a for a day full of fun. Live acoustic music will be played throughout the day to set the scene with plenty of space to set up and spend the day.

If you haven’t visited the grounds of the Coulthard House before, prepare to be delighted. With its vast, perfectly manicured lawns housing the impressive mid-nineteenth century building, it serves as a beautiful setting to spend a crisp, Winter’s day.

The markets will be spread across the impressive grounds showcasing an impressive selection of winter goodies from local stallholders including hand-made garments perfect for keeping snug when the temperature drops.

Of course, you’ll need to keep yourself toasty while you roam and what better way to do so than with a warm, tasty beverage. Warm-up with a mulled cider, a selection of local red wines or perhaps a delicious mead!

The Barossa WinterFest is a great reminder that South Australia’s wine regions aren’t just for the summer and have something to give all year round. Why not use the event as an excuse to take a weekend trip and stay in that cute little Air BnB you’ve had saved in your Instagram folder for months? Or if you want to get the full rural experience, why not take yourself glamping and experience the Barossa in all its raw beauty.

Promising a fun day for the whole family, the festival is free and will go ahead rain, hail or shine but don’t worry, there will be plenty of cover should the weather take a turn for worse.

The Barossa WinterFest takes place on Saturday 10th September.

Coulthard House is located at 66-70 Murray Steet, Nutiootpa 5355
