Adelaide’s Fugazzi Bar and Dining Room has been crowned the champion of pasta in South Australia in this year’s delicious. 100 awards.
Fugazzi is a New York inspired Italo-American restaurant, serving food which elevates humble flavors to gourmet heights. The standout dish on the menu? The crab pasta, which includes hand-rolled strands of egg taglierini combined with hand-picked blue-swimmer crab, fermented chili, and crustacean butter. To add a final touch, this dish is adorned with the bright coral jewels of salmon roe, creating a myriad of flavors.
Fugazzi is located at 27 Leigh Street in the heart of the CBD and has wowed both locals and international celebrities alike with its delectable Italian offerings, including English food writer and television cook Nigella Lawson, Guns N’ Roses’ lead vocalist Axl Rose, and Aussie rock legend Jimmy Barnes.
The faces behind the Fugazzi success story are talented power couple Laura and Max Sharrad. Laura Sharrad, a MasterChef star, has brought her culinary expertise to Fugazzi, and together with her husband Max, they have transformed the space into what it is today.
Situated in the spot once occupied by Italian bistro Rigoni’s, this is not the restaurant’s first taste of glory, as it was also featured among the 2022 delicious. 100 winners when it was voted as the state’s number one Italian restaurant.

The menu at Fugazzi offers a range of beautiful pasta dishes, including Whole Egg Casarecce with broccolini, anchovy, garlic, and chilli pangratatto, Charred Zucchini Agnolotti with peas, pancetta and honey lemon butter sauce, and Smoked Ricotta Occhi with tomato butter, cured egg yolk and crispy ‘Nduja.
For seafood lovers, the Campanelle Nero with smoked eel, braised fennel and guanciale crumb and the aforementioned Hand Rolled Taglierini with blue swimmer crab, chili, garlic and salmon roe will no doubt tantalise taste buds.
Meanwhile, for those craving the comforting flavors of traditional Italian cuisine, options like Ricotta Gnocchi with Braised Osso Bucco, peas, and rosemary are simply irresistible.
While Fugazzi leads the pack, other contenders also dished out some serious competition in the pasta category, with the runners-up being Adelaide’s Borsa Pasta Cucina in second place, Rose Park’s Orso in third place, Casa Carboni in Angaston coming in at fourth place and the Secret Pasta Club in fifth place.

The winners in the delicious. 100 awards competition were determined by people’s choice, with more than 10,000 individuals casting their votes. Despite the stiff competition in the pasta category, Fugazzi emerged victorious, solidifying its reputation as a must-visit restaurant.
