The Best Way To Start Your Week: FREE Ice Cream!

Monday is Swiss National Day and to celebrate, Mövenpick and the Australia Red Cross have some ice cream to give away.

For most people, August 1 is a normal Monday. Unless you’re Swiss, in which case you’ll celebrate Swiss National Day, the date inspired by the Federal Charter of 1291, Pacte du Grutli (there’s your history fun fact for the day). In Australia, we tend to celebrate European national days by finding something we have in common – usually food.

And the Swiss do a mighty good Ice Cream…

So today from midday, Swiss ice cream brand Mövenpick are teaming up with the Australian Red Cross to offer free scoops of their finest flavours to the first 250 customers in each of their 23 national boutiques, which in Adelaide means you’ll be heading straight to Leigh Street. Of course, the Red Cross was originally founded in Switzerland, and for the day customers will be encouraged to make a gold coin donation to support their work with the most vulnerable people in Australia and overseas.

This is all about satisfying our inner five year old, who always dreamed of eating ice cream for a midday meal, as well as adult you who loves the warm fuzzy you get from giving to charity. There are no restrictions on the flavours you can select either; Swiss Chocolate, Crème Brulee, Panna Cotta, Tiramisu, Blueberry Cheesecake and all the rest are up from grabs.

For more information visit the Mövenpick website. And remember, Leigh Street is where you want be on Monday. The store opens at 12pm.
