New Zealand’s silent comedian, Sam Wills, has racked up a number of awards for his hilarious one-man show, The Boy With Tape on His Face, including Best Show, Best Show Concept and a People’s Choice Award.

He returns to this year’s Adelaide Fringe with More Tape, a brilliant new show following the same winning concept that has given him sold out performances here for the past two years.

To say too much is to ruin the utter fascination and joy of watching this comedian’s fertile imagination unfold. His is a world where pants can sing, a toothbrush can take flight and other household items become light sabres, pistols, golfing greens and puppets. Well chosen movie themes and songs kindle the comedy that little bit extra and sometimes put words to the actions.

With a thick strip of gaffer tape covering his mouth, expressive, bulging eyes stare out at the audience and invite numerous members to assist in each skit, and the audience does so with enthusiasm because the joke is never at their expense.

The stage is littered with his toys, and a satchel over the shoulder seems to hold more surprises than Mary Poppins’ magic bag. With each set up, the anticipation in the air is ripe and the laughter is already building to the outrageously unpredictable punch line.

The Boy with Tape on his Face, More Tape is must see comedy for both existing fans and those yet to discover one of the most inventive comedians to grace our shores.
