Brompton’s burgeoning food and wine district which already boasts Jarmer’s Kitchen, Oddio and Plant 4 Bowden will be further bolstered by a re-imagined incarnation of The Brompton Hotel.

This latest pub offering in the Duxton Pubs Group stable already includes The Saracens Head and The Lion. With a Michelin-starred tapas slinger plating up in the kitchen and the recent Duxton acquisition of Little Bang Brewery craft brews flowing, The Brompton’s intent is to not only cater to locals but to be a gastronomical destination that draws diners from across the state.

For over a decade, Sydney-born chef Andrew Wandless honed his skills in the bustling London food scene, including at the Michelin-starred pair of Hibiscus, founded by French chef Claude Bosi, and Scandinavian restaurant and champagne bar Texture.

Most recently, Wandless crafted Spanish tapas and pinchos in coastal Coogee at Una Más. Wandless brings his European pedigree to The Brompton, which will offer a Euro-Centric menu of small plates, mains and bar snacks, including chorizo scotch eggs, crumbed-to-order spherical chicken Kyiv and Berkshire pork loin.

Little Bang Brewery’s presence won’t just be felt behind the bar, but also on the plate with the kitchen frying up IPA battered onion rings and, in a sustainable use of resources, the house bread will be made using spent grain.

With The Gov and the Adelaide Entertainment Centre nearby, The Brompton will be an ideal pre or post gig destination, with their carefully curated drinks list focusing on local craft breweries and distilleries and a 100-bottle wine list chosen by Mother Vine and Stanley Bridge Tavern part-owner Pablo Theodoros.

The heritage listed locale, which has been given a facelift, is located just ten minutes north of the Adelaide CBD. When it opens on November 23, just in time for the festive season, The Brompton invites you to “come a stranger, leave a friend”.
