Moira Finucane created the Burlesque Hour in 2005 in conjunction with Jackie Smith, her artistic partner for the last fifteen years. Since then it has toured the world to critical acclaim and has won numerous awards. As well as Finucane this performance contained several other much loved regulars. The rest of the current cast are Yumi Umiumare, Azaria Universe, Maude Davey, Jess Love and Kitten K. O.

From the fun of a tassel-swinging gorilla, to the edgy elegance of Umiumare in a stunning kimono, to a range of beautiful and bizarre sequences, this is an eclectic mix. You will never look at a cup of coffee or a large container of milk in the same way again, especially if you get up close and personal. In one short hour these ladies offer everything from a naked chanteuse to a parade of cats to a trapeze act, all with style and pizzazz.

This not, however, the cheap thrills and titillation style of burlesque of the past. This is the thinking person’s burlesque, with loads of class and a strong feminist undercurrent. These ladies are in charge and they let you know it. It is both powerful and empowering. Catch it while you can.
