All dog lovers know the pure joy of seeing your four-legged best friend run towards you with uninhibited enthusiasm, gangly legs, and a big smile – you know the one, tongue hanging out and everything. They look a little dopey sometimes, but they always run to you with love.
And if you think one pooch racing towards you is adorable, how about two? How about an entire race?
The Canine Cup is the dog lovers alternative to the Adelaide Cup horse race. It’s a luncheon held on the Adelaide Cup Public Holiday, however, the ‘races’ are of dogs running (or not running if they don’t want to) to their owners at the finish line.
While race filming occurs early December, the big event screening of the races happens on Monday 11th March 2019 at Plant 4 Bowden alongside a four-course, scrumptious vegan lunch.
If horse racing isn’t your thing, but gorgeous rescue dogs and puppies are, the Canine Cup is for you! It’s jam-packed with fun, food, fashion, and friends. There will be sweeps, plus raffles, a silent auction, and fashion on the field, all of which is focused on providing much-needed funds for Guardian Angel Animal Rescue (GAAR).
Since their founding, GAAR has successfully rescued and rehomed over 1,000 dogs from all over South Australia. GAAR’s volunteers work tirelessly to ensure every dog that comes into their care receives the help they need and eventually finds a loving forever home.
If this year’s Canine Cup is anything to go by, next year’s is going to be a blast and a whole lot of help for the fur babies who need it most.
