The Adelaide premiere of Australian movie 'The Cup' was held on Wednesday the 5th of October at Piccadilly Cinema, with Stephen Curry who plays Damien Oliver making an appearance.
The Cup' is an incredible true Australian story. At the heart of this true story is Damien Oliver, a young jockey who loses his only brother in a tragic racing accident just days before the Melbourne Cup. The race fall is hauntingly similar to the way their father died 27 years earlier.
After suffering a series of discouraging defeats, Damien teams with Irish trainer Dermot Weld, and triumphs at the 2002 Melbourne Cup in one of the most thrilling finales in sporting history.
The cast includes Stephen Curry, the late Bill Hunter, Brendan Gleeson, Daniel McPherson, Jodi Gordon, Alice Parkinson, Tom Burlinson, Martin Sacks, Shaun Micallef. “The Cup” opens in cinemas nationally on October 13th.
