The Currant Shed is McLaren Vale’s one-stop-shop to eat, play and stay

Experience a piece of paradise that you can call home for a few nights at The Currant Shed’s stunning accommodation, winery and restaurant.

We’re lucky in South Australia to be able to feel worlds away without having to travel too far. Our stunning wine regions can often be mistaken for the hills of Southern France and the exceptional produce is in a class of its own.

Why is it then, that many of us don’t take full advantage of our backyard? For most, it comes down to convenience. So imagine, if you will, being able to experience a hosted behind-the-scenes winery tour followed by a three-course lunch at one of McLaren Vale’s highest-regarded restaurants, all within walking distance of your own private piece of paradise that you can call home for a few nights. Now that is convenience at its finest and is the reality that awaits you with a visit to The Currant Shed.

The 60-acre estate boasts not only an award-winning restaurant but also a renowned vineyard in Shottesbrooke Wines. Now the latest addition of not one, but two newly renovated lodgings, round out The Currant Shed’s ‘Drink, Dine and Stay’ philosophy.

A night spent in the heart of one of SA’s most celebrated wine regions is an experience like no other, and both properties on The Currant Shed estate bring a taste of something special.

The first, Clements House, is one of the original homesteads in McLaren Flat, which offers a cosy, rustic feel. The neighbouring Hillside House has a more modern feel, and is perched atop one of the undulating slopes, presenting sweeping views of the vineyards below towards the impressive mountain ranges of Mt Lofty.

Both properties are mere metres away from the restaurant and winery, reminding us once again of the ease and expediency of the estate.

The Currant Shed’s Tourism Manager, Chloe Gogoll, says the addition of the accommodation just felt right.

“It’s a really natural progression to go from a beautiful, fine-dining experience on the property, to a winery producing high-quality varietals, and finally to a homely place to stay,” she says.

Of course, you don’t need to stay overnight to indulge in the offerings at The Currant Shed with the restaurant open 6 days a week and offers the perfect setting for an elegant long lunch.

“The talented Chefs in our kitchen come from such diverse backgrounds, and together they bring out the best of seasonal, regional produce and flavour. I definitely recommend three hours for the 6-course chef degustation,” says Chloe.

The Currant Shed truly is a regional oasis that asks you to linger just that little bit longer to truly immerse yourself in the experience.

The Currant Shed is located at 104 Ingoldby Road, McLaren Flat.
