The countdown to the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide has officially begun, with just one year to go until the event transforms the South Australian capital. This announcement coincides with the launch of a new brand look for the tournament by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and Volleyball Australia.
Scheduled for November 14th to 23rd, 2025, this premier global championship will be hosted right in the heart of Adelaide, showcasing the sport to an enthusiastic mix of local, domestic, and international audiences. The event’s branding draws inspiration from South Australia’s unique natural environment, incorporating elements like the Pink Lakes, Sturt Desert Pea, and the region’s renowned sunset skies. This visual theme will be implemented across various venues and activities leading up to and during the event period.
Jenny Mann, CEO of Adelaide 2025, shared her excitement about the launch and the strategic vision behind the branding. “The new brand pays homage to the unique colours and diversity of nature found in South Australia, and does so in a bright, fun and exciting way which is truly reflective of the sport,” she stated.
The first three ambassadors for Adelaide 2025 have also been named: Kerri Pottharst, a gold medallist from the Sydney 2000 Olympics; Mariafe Artacho del Solar, a silver medallist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics; and Zach Schubert, an athlete from the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics and a proud South Australian. These ambassadors bring a wealth of experience and will play crucial roles in the tournament, contributing on and off the sand.
Pottharst spoke about her personal connection to the event, “It’s been a long time coming since the buzz that was created 24 years ago in Sydney,” she said. “For me personally, to still be involved as a commentator and now as an ambassador for the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships, is a real honour.
“Australia hosting this event will be an incredible opportunity not just for our athletes and broader sport, but also for the fans of Olympic sports.
“The younger athletes will have the opportunity to experience the highest level of competition in our sport, which is so often played in the northern hemisphere.”
Fans eager to secure a spot at one of the most dynamic events next year are being prompted to register on the ticketing waitlist, with hospitality pre-releases set for late 2024 and general public sales beginning early in 2025.
Dr Ary Graça, FIVB President, said “The World Championships have a fantastic home in Australia for 2025 – a nation with a deep passion for our sport.”
“We are grateful for Volleyball Australia’s efforts so far, in particular their creation of a vibrant, innovative brand for the competition. Following a remarkable year for beach volleyball in 2024, I am confident that the 2025 World Championships will bring even more excitement, elevating the global profile of our sport in Australia and the world.”
Finn Taylor, CEO of Volleyball World, also commented on the landmark occasion, noting the historic and cultural significance of hosting the event in Adelaide. “One year to go is a very exciting milestone, and we are thrilled to bring the Beach Volleyball World Championships to Adelaide!” said Taylor. “Hosting this premier competition in Australia for the first time is a historic moment, and with Adelaide’s vibrant volleyball culture and stunning coastline, it is set to be one to remember.

We are excited for another step in expanding beach volleyball’s appeal and reach worldwide.”
