On Friday 17th February, Adelaide’s East End will celebrate the opening night of the Adelaide Fringe with all the pomp and glamour of the New Orleans mardi gras.
“This is our second year of the Fat Tuesday Street Party and we are bringing even more beads, New Orleanian inspired food and brass bands onto the street this time round”, says Oliver Brown of NOLA Adelaide.
“We’re very lucky to have the support of Adelaide Fringe and Splash Adelaide for this event – and can’t wait to help get the party started for the rest of the Fringe festival season in the East End” says Chloe Reschke-Maguire, Event Manager from The Pop-Up Co.
“We’re very excited to be working with the traditional New Orleanian spirit, Southern Comfort, for this event, serving up Momma’s Sweet Tea and Louisiana Lemonade cocktails on the night.” Pirate Life beer will also be making an appearance in both Vardon Ave and NOLA’s new pop-up bar, Gin & Juice, in Stage Lane on the night too.
Word is, you’ll also be able to get your chops around some southern American traditional fare from the boys and girls at BRKLYN, El Choto, Wingman, East End Cellars & Mother Vine with dishes like all American buffalo wings, jambalaya, gumbo and reuben sandwiches a plenty.
Party the night away with NOLA’s own showgirls, some rocking live jazz and brass from Runebilly Rattle and a New Orleanian themed DJ set from the 40s to the naughties by Adam Page.
So make sure you head on down to Vardon Ave from 5pm on 17th February and bring your beads, masks and the mardi gras fun!
