The Flaming Lips are heading to Australia in early February 2025, marking their first tour in the country since 2020. They’ll kick off in Adelaide on January 30th at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, with additional shows in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.
The band will perform their acclaimed 2002 album, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, in full, along with other fan favourites. This album, which solidified their place in alternative rock, features notable tracks like “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 1”, “Fight Test”, and the Grammy-winning “Approaching Pavonis Mons by Balloon (Utopia Planitia)”.
Originally from Oklahoma City in 1983, The Flaming Lips have distinguished themselves as a force in the music industry, known for their innovative sound and epic live performances. The Guardian has praised their concerts as delivering “the purest, most potent dose of feel-good psychedelia imaginable,” while the Sydney Morning Herald has recognised them as one of the world’s most impressive live acts.
Their influence has crossed borders and generations, with the band racking up numerous awards, including three Grammy Awards and a nomination for a Tony Award.
For those eager to catch the live performances, ticket sales are scheduled as follows: early bird presale will begin on 21 August at 9:00am AEST, and general ticket sales are set to open on 23rd August at 9:00am AEST, both through the ticketing platform Destroy All Lines.
