Nestled amongst 400 acres of vines in the picturesque Whites Valley (between Aldinga and Willunga) is The Flower Cellar Door, run by Colin Carpenter (owner of Willunga Plains Flowers) and partner Kyra Kahan.

It’s not a cellar door as you know it, though. As the name suggests, they offer an amazing range of fresh cut flowers, as well as hot and cold drinks, light meals and a selection of sweet treats.

With a passion for sustainability, Colina and Kyra transformed a recycled shipping container into a fresh, vibrant coffee spot.

The result has to be seen to be believed. The rustic café is an oasis; surrounded by greenery, the earthy tones of the cafés facade, as well as the bench tops and shade cloth, provide a stark contrast to the gorgeous flowers.

There is plenty of space to sit with your coffee and admire the floral view.

In fact, just over 12 months ago, Colin and Kyra transformed one of their greenhouses into a cosy seating area, so you can sit inside the greenhouse tunnel as the flowers grow around you.

Listen to the rain pelt down onto the glass windows, or – in the summer – opt for a space outside in the sunshine.

Everything is flowery, at The Flower Cellar Door. Even the avocado toast is served with beautiful edible flowers.

Oh, and did I mention the cellar door dog? Stormy is a hit with children and dogs alike. And when she’s not basking in the attention of visitors, she’s basking in the sunlit greenhouse.

So, bring your kids and your dogs and enjoy a flower-filled brunch this weekend.

The Flower Cellar Door is open from 9:30am ’til 3:30m on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

You can find the Flower Cellar Door at 300 Little Road, Whites Valley.
