The Ghan Opens To The Public

CA (164)For the first time in four years, The Ghan will be on public display in South Australia.

The legendary train will serve as the centrepiece of The Ghan Open Day to be held at Adelaide Parklands Terminal on Saturday, June 1.

The Open Day will feature on-board tours of The Ghan including viewings of the recently refurbished Gold Twin carriages, as well as the Platinum and Red Service offerings.

Entry to the train is a gold coin donation to Great Southern Rail’s charity partner, the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Members of the public can also enjoy special travel deals, Off Train Excursion displays, a sausage sizzle and free face painting for children on the day.

Where: Platform 1 at Adelaide Parklands Terminal, Richmond Rd, Keswick

The event celebrates the 2013 launch of The Ghan’s all-inclusive fares for its Platinum and Gold Service guests.

For the first time ever, guests who choose to travel in Platinum and Gold Service on The Ghan are now able to enjoy all meals, beverages and Off Train Excursions as standard extras.
